That's 30 billion a month, or a billion a day, in layperson's terms. Now, if you will, imagine if we spent a billion a day on infrastructure rebuilding and re-establishing manufacturing in this country. Right now the 'real' unemployment rate is around 25 or so percent. One in four American's is out of work and is in danger of losing their home if they own one, due to mortgage default. I have a hard time trying to accept the fact that ONE BILLION DOLLLARS A DAY wouldn't help alleviate some of the stress. I also have a hard time accepting the incessant yet ignored by the press, litany of dead soldiers coming back in transfer cases...as well as the drone murdering and military force incursions into Pakistan now. So, someone do the math for me, tell me how the 1 BILLION A DAY that is being pissed away might help with long-term job creation and infrastructure repairs we sorely need. We can't afford NOT TO STOP THESE WARS, in other words! A billion dollars per day is too much to piss away on killing innocent Afghan civilians who just want us to get the hell out of their country, and this goes for Iraq, as well. It's time to STOP the KLEPTOCRATS now, or forever resolve ourselves to third world status because we spent ourselves into the toilet on wars we didn't need to fight, that have nothing whatsoever to do with national security of the U.S., and in fact, are UNDERMINING THE U.S. Obombaton begs the compliant CONgress and Senile-ate for 60 billion dollars more every two months. It’s time to STOP the KLEPTOCRATS now, or forever resolve ourselves to third world status because we spent ourselves into the toilet on wars we didn’t need to fight, that have nothing whatsoever to do with national security of the U.S., and in fact, are UNDERMINING THE U.S.

Outside of the central districts of a few cities and the military fortresses, the Afghan national resistance forces, in all of their complex local, regional and national alliances, are in control, of territory, people and administration. http://mycatbirdseat.com/2010/06/james-petras-afghanistan-the-longest-lost-war/ [...] [...] Despite almost a decade of warfare, including an invasion and occupation, the U.S. military and its allies and client state armed forces are losing the war in Afghanistan. I do not think most Americans, especially those hailing from US's biblical belt can stomach the bitter truth - they are too self-absorbed in their righteous, holier-than-thou beliefs to be convinced of anything less than an absolute divine victory complete with angels singing 'glory glory hallelujah'. With the futility of an expensive war apparent, no longer bankrolled by a bustling economy or supported by erstwhile NATO member friends, who never saw any of the economic benefits promised, the Crusading cry of the American right-wing grows bleak by the day, and now desperately, more than ever before, seeks the save-Israel card hoping, if for nothing else, the return of Jesus who after having converted all the Jews to Christianity, will cause his blinkering faithful to rise above the clouds en masse, stark naked, freed of all sin, in perfect rapture on their way to heaven while the heathen Muslims are left to rot.
