The real "terrorists and "religious extremists" that Americans need to combat are on Wall Street, in Washington, DC, Hollywood, and preaching from the pulpits of small-town churches. Quit taking those drugs and the dealers will go out of buisiness-or look for other markets to capture elsewhere, folks. General Petraeus? Retire now, Sir. It's the best that you can offer your country in such trying times......and you're already all over the news and history books the way you always wanted to be. And, they have been reduced to the dithering ineffectiveness which they have always resorted to when "Iron-clad" schemes and "Operations" with high-sounding names fail, as they usually do, and they withdraw and regroup, only to come back with the same old failures, repackaged and re-wrapped in even more clamorous, and high-sounding names. the same old slippery bullshit with the same old aroma, but new and ever-more expensive price tags. Lo,how high the mountains in Afghanistan, and how far the seekers of their summits have to fall! The foreigner has never had a "solution" to the problems he has brought to Afghanistan over the past centuries, and it is doubtful that he will find one now, regardless of the impressive degrees or the chest full of impressive ribbons their Military Commanders may wear The solution is indeed local, and it will be locals who implement it, Probably by such simple means as a few assassins bullets which strike to the heart of the matter, a cup of poisoned tea, or a well-made, well-applied and effective device of local manufacture.
